About Cancer Rehabilitation & Management at Physiotas
Amy, our dedicated PIN & STEEL Cancer Rehabilitation Physiotherapist, is committed to supporting individuals at every stage of your cancer journey. Our cancer rehabilitation services are designed to address the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges associated with cancer and its treatment.
Fatigue Management
Cancer-related fatigue is a common challenge. We help you develop energy-conservation strategies and tailor activity levels to reduce fatigue and improve day-to-day function.
Restorative Exercises to Rebuild Strength and Endurance
Amy works with you to create gentle, progressive exercise programs to help you regain muscle strength, enhance cardiovascular health, and improve overall physical resilience during your cancer rehabilitation.
Lymphoedema Prevention and Care
For individuals at risk of lymphoedema due to cancer treatment, we provide proactive education and preventative care. If lymphoedema develops, we offer the full range of our specialized lymphoedema services.
Pain Management and Mobility Restoration
Cancer treatments can result in pain and reduced mobility. Amy uses evidence-based techniques such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and stretching to assist with pain management and restore movement.
Scar Management
Amy will provide options and assistance with managing scars after cancer surgery. This may include gentle stretches, massage or providing advice around how to manage and help scars while at home
Psychosocial Support to Improve Mental Health
We recognize the emotional toll that cancer can take. Amy provides a compassionate environment where you can address concerns, set realistic goals, and foster a positive outlook for your recovery.
Our Team
Amy Hilder
Amy is a dedicated physiotherapist with a special interest in cancer rehabilitation and lymphoedema management. In 2021, she completed the ALERT program at Macquarie University, gaining expertise in evidence-based assessment and treatment of lymphoedema to enhance her patients' function and quality of life.
Through her experience, Amy identified a gap in physiotherapy support for breast cancer recovery. With over 20,000 Australian women diagnosed each year facing issues like pain and lymphoedema, she sought further training. In 2024, she completed the PINC & STEEL Breast Cancer Physiotherapy course.
This advanced program equipped her to assist with post-operative recovery and facilitate a safe return to exercise and work. Amy developed skills in scar management and gained insights into breathing biomechanics, which play a crucial role in rehabilitation and pain management. With this knowledge, she is now better positioned to provide comprehensive care throughout her patients' recovery journeys.
