About Cancer Rehabilitation & Management at Physiotas

At Physiotas, our cancer rehabilitation team is dedicated to supporting individuals at every stage of their cancer journey. Our physiotherapists work with you to address the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges associated with cancer and its treatment, helping you move, feel, and live better during and after care.

Our cancer rehabilitation services are delivered by Amy and Nathan, both trained through the internationally recognised PINC & STEEL Cancer Rehabilitation Programs, ensuring evidence-based, specialised care tailored to your individual needs.

Fatigue Management

Cancer-related fatigue is a common and often overwhelming challenge. We help you develop energy conservation strategies and carefully tailor activity levels to reduce fatigue, improve endurance, and support day-to-day function.

Restorative Exercises to Rebuild Strength and Endurance

Amy and Nathan design gentle, progressive exercise programs to help rebuild muscle strength, improve cardiovascular fitness, and restore confidence in movement—whether you are undergoing treatment or transitioning into recovery.

Lymphoedema Prevention and Care

For individuals at risk of lymphoedema following cancer treatment, we provide proactive education and preventative care. If lymphoedema develops, we offer access to our full range of specialised lymphoedema assessment and management services.

Pain Management and Mobility Restoration

Cancer treatments can result in pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Using evidence-based physiotherapy techniques, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and stretching, we aim to reduce pain, restore movement, and improve overall function.

Scar Management

We provide guidance and hands-on treatment to support scar healing following cancer surgery. This may include gentle stretching, massage techniques, and education on how to manage scars safely and effectively at home.

Psychosocial Support to Improve Mental Health

We recognise the emotional impact cancer can have. Our physiotherapists offer a compassionate and supportive environment, helping you set realistic goals, address concerns, and maintain a positive, empowered approach to recovery.

Nathan is a physiotherapist with a strong focus on oncology rehabilitation, particularly supporting men during and after prostate cancer treatment. He has completed advanced training in Oncology Rehabilitation and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy through the internationally recognised STEEL Program.

He is committed to providing evidence-based, respectful, and personalised care, creating a supportive environment where patients feel informed and empowered throughout their cancer rehabilitation journey.

Amy Hilder

Amy is a dedicated physiotherapist with a special interest in cancer rehabilitation and lymphoedema management. In 2021, she completed the ALERT Program at Macquarie University, developing advanced skills in evidence-based lymphoedema assessment and treatment to improve patient function and quality of life.

Through her clinical experience, Amy identified a gap in physiotherapy support for breast cancer recovery. With over 20,000 Australian women diagnosed annually and many experiencing pain and lymphoedema, she pursued further specialised training. In 2024, Amy completed the PINC & STEEL Breast Cancer Physiotherapy Program.

This advanced training enhanced her expertise in post-operative rehabilitation, scar management, breathing biomechanics, and supporting a safe return to exercise, work, and daily activities. Amy is passionate about delivering comprehensive, individualised care throughout every stage of recovery.
